Rex Tillerson is putting his foot down: No more pandering to Islam, trying to curry favor with Muslims by embracing a religion that is — by any measure one could pick — embracing terrorism.
The Secretary of State has “declined a request to host an event to mark Islam’s holy month of Ramadan, two U.S. officials said, apparently breaking with a bipartisan tradition in place with few exceptions for nearly 20 years,” Reuters reported.
Since 1999, Republican and Democratic secretaries of state have nearly always hosted either an iftar dinner to break the day’s fast during Ramadan or a reception marking the Eid al-Fitr holiday at the end of the month, at the State Department.
Tillerson turned down a request from the State Department’s Office of Religion and Global Affairs to host an Eid al-Fitr reception as part of Ramadan celebrations, said two U.S. officials who declined to be identified because they were not authorized to speak publicly.
Both Barack Obama and George W. Bush praised Muslims each year at the start of Ramadan. And both went to great lengths to tell Americans and the world that the religion is actually peaceful (although adherents keep killing innocent men, women and children while yelling “Alluhu Akbar”).
President Trump released a proclamation about Ramadan this year, but he did not host a White House celebration — as Bush and Obama had. Instead, he was in Europe standing with the leader of the Palestinians, Mahmoud Abbas, where he called Muslim terrorists “losers.”
On Friday, the start of Ramadan, Tillerson issued a statement, calling the holiday “”a month of reverence, generosity, and self-reflection.” “Most importantly, it is a cherished time for family and friends to gather and give charity to those who are less fortunate. This time reminds us all of the common values of harmony and empathy we hold dear,” he said.
That day was of course marred by an attack in Egypt that left 22 Christians dead. “Survivors of the attack said that the ten masked Islamic State militants did not merely open fire on the bus full of Christian pilgrims on their way to the Monastery of Saint Samuel the Confesor, but that the victims were made to descend from the bus and asked one by one whether they were Christians before being shot by the assailants,” Breitbart reported.
Instead of celebrating Ramadan, Tillerson headed to Rolling Thunder, where he donned a leather vest with a U.S. flag patch and rode a Harley, slapping hands with veterans from every era in celebration of America’s fighting men and women.
And looking pretty bad ass while doing it.
